A radiology technician is an expert in the use of analytical equipment designed to help identify and diagnose diseases and physical conditions. A radiology expert works with x-ray machines, MRIs, and CT scan devices. As a technician, you will work closely with general practitioners and specialists to help solve medical problems and get patients the care that they need.

Educational Requirements

In order to become a certified radiology technician in the state of Florida, you will need to take at least a certification course that includes field-specific training. There are also two and four-year degree options available that will enhance your resume and increase your chances of finding a good job.

A radiology technician training program will include topics such as:

  • Use and maintenance of radiology equipment
  • Human anatomy and physiology
  • Ethics in medicine
  • Protection from radiation
  • How radiation affects the human body
  • Proper methods for patient care and comfort

The Department of Health in the state of Florida is responsible for licensing radiology experts. Once you have completed your educational training, you will need to contact the Department of Health to find out the licensing requirements. You will be asked to engage in several hours of hands-on training as well as take several written tests in order to obtain your certification.
